The Mancunian grandwizard Gerald Simpson drops an extended live set of 808 funk and 21st century aci

This guy called Gerald Simpson has done a lot to shape British electronic music into what it is today. Starting off with his early crew in Manchester, The Scratchbeat Masters, A Guy Called Gerald went on to become a founding member of 808 State, at the same time releasing his seminal acid house classic Voodoo Ray in 1988. Instead of resting on his laurels he started Juice Box Records, a label that helped lay the foundations for what became jungle and drum‘n’bass. His classic album 28 Gun Bad Boy was the very first artist albums in the genre. His next album Black Secret Technology followed in 1995 and remains a coveted milestone. It was released in an overhauled and remastered version in 2008 and cited by many including Burial as an influence. After relocating to New York in the late 90’s then Berlin in early 00s, Gerald returned to focus on his techno and house roots, releasing tracks on !K7, Laboratory Instinct, Perlon and Bosconi proving that his musical mastery works outside of short lived trends.
